Title Tag

An HTML element that specifies the title of a web page, displayed in search results and browser tabs.

The title tag is an HTML element that specifies the title of a web page. It appears in search engine results as the clickable headline, in browser tabs, and when pages are shared on social media. It's one of the most important on-page SEO elements.

Title tags should typically be 50-60 characters to avoid truncation in search results. They should include your target keyword (preferably near the beginning), accurately describe the page content, be compelling enough to encourage clicks, and ideally include your brand name at the end.

Google considers title tags when determining what a page is about and how relevant it is to a search query. While Google doesn't always use your title tag exactly as written (it may rewrite titles that it deems inadequate), a well-crafted title tag improves your chances of ranking well and earning clicks.

Best practices for title tags include writing unique titles for each page, avoiding keyword stuffing, making them compelling and click-worthy, including modifiers like "best," "guide," or the current year for competitive keywords, and testing different versions to see what generates the best click-through rates.
